Tips for First Timers...

TIPS FOR FIRST TIMERS

-

Drink water BEFORE, DURING and AFTER class! Very important to stay well hydrated.

-

Go at your own rate.    Listen to your body.  If you feel tired or out of breathe, slow down. Don't use your arms or take it down a notch.  Your body needs to build up endurance and strength, don't think you can do it all right away.  I am ONLY an option, you are not required to move like me. Everyone moves different, so move how God made you to do so.

-

Don't get too worried about the dancing.  You don't need to be a dancer to take Zumba.  If you love music, I think this is for you.   We are all at different levels & we are all coming together to have a good time.

-

What to wear:  Dress comfortably with clothes that breathe.  Cross trainer type shoes are recommended (sneakers). Something with a smoother sole is great.

-

Some people wear Jazz shoes. Find what is comfortable for you.

Questions??

Ask me Questions -

I'm always here if you ever have any questions.  I stay after every class to answer any questions you might have or go over any steps you'd like a little more practice on.  Sometimes a little individual attentions helps you understand certain steps easier, so please just ask me.

more Tips

-Don’t get too worried about the dancing.  You don’t need to be a dancer to take Zumba.  If you love music, I think this is for you.  I am providing you a space with music, to move and to get a work out. We are not judging your salsa skills.  We are all at different levels, we are all coming together to have a good time. I am always trying to learn as well.  (If anyone has something new....please teach ME!!!!)

-And do not get frustrated that you are not getting the steps right away.  Again, this is NOT a dance class. Hearing the music, seeing the steps repeated and just jumping in is great for you to start getting better.  You will surprise yourself one day.  Get the music into your body and just have FUN!!!!

-POSTURE: VERY IMPORTANT.  First of all for safety from injuries.  Secondly, because if you have good posture, you work your body better.  You will especially feel it in your abdomen.  Ask me in class if I did not show posture in that particular class.  Make posture 24/7.  Walking, sitting, playing on the computer...... pay attention to posture.  It’s like a continued exercise, plus good for preventing future problems.
